I grew up in Amsterdam-West where I spent most of my days on the field to compete with others, with the intention to stand out. Sport and primarily football have always been an important part of my life, and therefore my passion from a very young age. In my youth I played for several football clubs in Amsterdam such as DCG. My favorite position was without question the right wing.

Thanks to my efforts I was able to join the Amsterdam Youth Squad, but the absolute top wasn’t within reach. Eventually I was invited into the youth’s academy of AZ, which allowed me to turn my passion into a professional football career of 67 competition matches and 29 goals with AZ(‘85-’86) and Fortuna Sittard (’86-’89).

Theo Vonk, whom I’ve known since he was a coach for AZ, had the intention to bring me to FC Twente for the ’89-’90 season. But first I joined the “Kleurrijk Elftal” for a couple of charity matches in Surinam  (South America). However, this didn’t come to pass because of the plane crash at Zanderij (Surinam) (7-6-’89). Amongst the 187 passengers, including the “Kleurrijk Elftal” I was one of the eleven survivors. Afterward, I was rejected for professional football.

During my rehabilitation period, I finished my education in entrepreneurship and management. From there on I decided to work as a prospective board member for the Vereniging Voor Contract Spelers (VVCS). However, I started to shift my focus to the scouting and guidance of players.

In 1996 I started my own company Pro Athlete sports management, with players as Patrick Kluivert, Winston Bogarde, and Michael Reiziger. From that point on, I’ve exercised my profession as a player agent for more than 25 years. I managed the careers of many players who, among other things, have reached the highest stages in professional football. For instance Andre Ooijer, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and Jetro Willems. What I enjoy the most, is to provide guidance to young players and help them to manage their careers.
